GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for maintaining reporting systems in accordance with regulatory and professional standards applicable to non-profit corporation receiving government funding. Direct all accounting operations and fiscal staff. Safeguard and maintain all automated financial accounting systems. Provide administrative support to the executive director and program managers as assigned.SPECIFIC DUTIESSelect, train, oversee, and evaluate the work of the fiscal staff people.Ensure that the Fiscal Office produces all necessary accounting materials on a timely basis review and analyze department output to ensure accuracy.Ensure that the agency payroll activities are completed accurately on a timely basis, including the payment of all payroll taxes.Maintain an efficient internal control structure designed to ensure compliance with organizational policies, funding terms and conditions, and other applicable regulations.Oversee automated accounting systems.Develop and monitor agencys budget for administrative costs, and overall indirect cost plan. Ensure that monthly closing is conducted properly.Coordinate with the Human Resources Department to ensure that salaries and employee benefits are accounted for on a consistent basis in accordance with approved program budgets and established personnel policies.Provide timely financial reports to funding sources, program staff and board of directors.Ongoing evaluation of organizations risk management needs and secure adequate insurance coverage.Organize and safeguard all official documentation and record relating to the organizations grants, contracts and agreements.Advise the executive director and board of directors on the operations and financial condition of the organization.Provide technical support and direction to program managers to ensure compliance with Federal rules and regulations and grantcontract conditions.Coordinate the annual organization-wide audit with contracted auditing firm.Represent the agency in any audit resolution effort, if necessary.Assist program managers with financial planning and budget development.Assist resource developer with new grant budgeting and development.Oversee insurance and risk management for the agency.Provide ability regarding potential investments of available funds as needed.Perform other financial and accounting duties as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervises 5 employees in the Finance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Assignments include interviewing, hiring, and training employees planning, assigning, and directing work appraising performance rewarding and disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of Bachelors degree in accounting and a min of 5 yrs background in non-profit accounting as accounting supervisor.
